The Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Amendment Act (Rica) is an Act passed by the South African President's office that was annouced by the Minister of Justice Jeff Radebe on Tuesday. This Act requires that every Cellphone subscriber (Pre-paid or Post-paid )to register with their respective Mobile Operator within the next 18 months.
Is it necessary?
Will it not constitute the invasion of privacy?(Will Corpate Call Centres still restrict call identity when doing their annoying telesales marketing?) How much will it cost the Mobile Operator?
- Is this one of the strategies The Beast is using to mark his territory?
Bear in mind...
-Registration should be done in person (I hope we won't need a public holiday for registration).
-The Rural South African also needs to be registered.
Maybe there is space for it (where do I get the tender to Administer These Databases)
-Maybe it will help in tightening our immigration laws, (for people to move they first need to communicate).
